Vincent F. Capaldi II, MD, ScM
Vincent is a resident in internal medicine and psychiatry at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington. He would like to thank his wife, Melinda, for her continual support and encouragement over the years.

Wendy Chen, MD, PhD
Wendy entered the MD/PhD program at Brown University in 1999 after finishing her undergraduate education at Washington University in St. Louis. She completed her doctorate of philosophy degree in neuroscience in 2006 and graduated from medical school in 2008. Part of her education was spent at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Picower Center for Learning and Memory, studying the molecular mechanisms of synaptic plasticity in the visual cortex. She is currently an intern in internal medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She hopes to continue her studies in the visual sciences by training in ophthalmology.

Joanne S. Chiu
Joanne was born and raised in New Orleans and attended Brown University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. She continued her education at Brown and plans to graduate from medical school in 2009. Joanne hopes to pursue a career in pediatrics. Outside the hospital, Joanne enjoys chilling with the old folks in nursing homes, playing gourmand in Providence area restaurants, and beating her husband Luke in Wii boxing.

Tammy Hshieh, MS
Tammy grew up predominantly in Las Cruces, N.M., but moved around a lot. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in biochemical sciences from Harvard University. She is currently in her fourth year of medical school at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Tammy aspires to become a practicing clinician-scientist in gastroenterology or cardiology. She is also interested in medical journalism and basic science research. When not scurrying around the wards or cramming textbooks, Tammy enjoys playing piano, reading, and crocheting unwearable clothes for friends.

Soyun Kim, MD
Soyun graduated from medical school at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in 2008. She is currently a resident in the emergency medicine program at the University of California, Los Angeles. After studying philosophy and German at Wellesley College, she tried various work including teaching, grassroots organizing, nonprofit management, and carpentry. Soyun likes being outdoors and traveling.

Manuel Lam
Manuel is a student at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He completed his undergraduate education at Brown, earning a degree in computer science. After his third year of medical school he pursued a year of research through a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship at Harvard Medical School. Manuel enjoys people-watching, Salsa dancing, and traveling. He will be applying for residency programs in internal medicine.

Syed R. Latif, MD
Syed earned his undergraduate degree in philosophy from the University of Rhode Island. He graduated from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in 2008, and has stayed there for his residency in internal medicine. In his spare time, Syed enjoys reading and playing basketball.

Katharine E. Schulze, MA
Katharine attended Kalamazoo College in Michigan, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and anthropology with a concentration in African studies. She then worked for the American Red Cross in disaster relief, and earned her Master of Arts degree in international relations. She is now in her fourth year at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and continues to have a strong interest in international health and in teaching. Katharine is planning on entering residency for anesthesiology.

Ezekiel Young, MD
Ezekiel completed his undergraduate education at Cornell University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. He then worked as an art therapist and earned a Master of Arts degree in art therapy from New York University before completing the post baccalaureate premedical program at Columbia University. Ezekiel graduated from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in 2008. He is currently pursuing his residency training in urology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

David Zinn, MD
David completed his undergraduate education at Haverford College in Haverford, Pa. Prior to medical school, he worked on Wall Street and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Michigan's Ross School of Business. He graduated from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in 2008. Currently David is a resident in the emergency medicine program at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor.
